AIR: The Republic of Yemen’s national airline is Yemen Airways (Yemenia) (IY) (website: www.yemenia.com).

Approximate flight times: From London to Sana’a is 10 hours (direct) and to Aden is nine hours, excluding stopover time.

International airports: Sana’a (SAH) (El-Rahaba) is 13km (8 miles) north of the city (travel time – 30 minutes). Transport to the city centre is by taxi. Airport facilities include a bank/bureau de change, duty free shop, baggage facilities and restaurants, as well as car hire.
Taiz (TAI) (al-Janad) is 4km (2.5 miles) from the city (travel time – 10 minutes). Taxis, buses and car hire are available. Hodaidah (HOD) is 8km (5 miles) from the city. Taxis, buses and car hire are available. Aden (ADE) (Khormaksar) is 11km (7 miles) from the city (travel time – 20 minutes). Limited bus and taxi services available.

Departure tax: None.

SEA: The main international ports are Aden, Hodaidah, Mokha, Mukalla and Nashton. Cargo vessels with passenger berths call at Hodeida.

ROAD: Driving to Yemen is not recommended but there are routes from Jeddah, Mecca and Riyadh (in Saudi Arabia) to Sana’a.
