Golf is very popular in Brunei and, upon arrival in the country, visitors immediately encounter evidence of this at the sight of the driving range and lush 18-hole golf course adjacent to the Royal Brunei Sports Complex. Fees at the Royal Brunei Golf Club includes B$6 for 50 balls and B$10 for 100 balls.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the Mentiri Golf Club at Jalan Pengkalan Sibabau is an international standard 18 hole, par 72 courses cradled in lush, landscaped grounds. Green feees are B$60 on weekdays and B$120 at weekends.
At the Empire Golf and Country Club, golfers have access to the sprawling Jack Nicklaus-designed 18-hole course. The club is located just off the Muara-Tutong Highway and is set amid a lush landscape hugging the South China Sea. The club is open to members and non-members alike. Empeast timor and Country Club - The golf course has an 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Niklaus. This one should be a challenge as it is a full-fledged championship course with all hazards to provide for a rigorous game. The course is fair and rewards the accurate striker while it punishes the errant shotmaker with its carefully placed fairway and green bunkers in addition to having incorporated the natural gullies in the somewhat undulating terrain with a few intelligently located water hazards.
Royal Brunei Airline Golf Club - The golf course is the first 18-hole public course lies just above five minutes from the Brunei International Airport and twenty minutes drive from the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan. It was designed by Max Wexler, Irrigation by Rain Link Australia and Drainage by Grove & Sawyer Pte. Ltd. With the outstanding holes designed along and to the west of the airport runway, it is characterised by a generally flat layout with huge man-made lakes spread out over the course add to the beauty of the surroundings and at the same time serve to irrigate the course.
Royal Brunei Golf and Country Club - The golf course has been described by its designer, Ronald Fream, as the "Augusta National of Asia". It is considered one of the best courses in Asia, and possibly the most exclusive in the world. The course is set amongst rainforest jungle, adjacent to the Royal Brunei Polo Club and other Royal Family facilities at Jerudong Park. The nearby Equestrain Centre, Polo Club and Disneyland style Amusement Park can be combined to provide packages and activities for a range of interests, family sports and recreation activities. |
